Last week saw "The Nicky Annual Golf Tournament - 2024" make a comeback to Manchester’s Jewish sporting and social calendar, drawing 16 competitive teams for a memorable afternoon and evening at Whitefield Golf Club. Despite the challenging weather conditions, including persistent wind and rain, the 64 dedicated players showcased their resilience and enthusiasm, making the day a resounding success.
The popular Nicky Golf Tournament had not been held for a few years. Having received numerous requests from the community expressing their desire to see it return, we listened and were thrilled to bring it back.
The tournament was a fantastic experience, even with the less-than-ideal weather. Everyone enjoyed the competitive play, the superb food, and the wonderful camaraderie. Most importantly, the event was a significant fundraiser for The Nicky, enabling it to continue offering a vibrant social club environment for its members.
The tournament winners were Peter Owens, Tom Foran, and Earl Hyman of Whitefield Golf Club, alongside Colin Warner from Moor Allerton. Along with the prestigious Claret Jug Trophy, the winning team was awarded a Four-Ball at the renowned Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making the day a success—our sponsors, advertisers, staff, and Whitefield Golf Club. Their support was invaluable.
With the tournament’s successful return, it’s clear that The Nicky Annual Golf Tournament has once again secured its place as a cherished event in the community’s social and sporting life. The Team at The Nicky will soon start the preparations for The Nicky Golf Tournament - 2025.
